ONBASE APPLICATION ENABLER
The OnBase Application Enabler is a product that seamlessly integrates software applications with OnBase. This non-intrusive integration is achieved with no API programming, scripting or modifications to the user's application. Since this interaction can be achieved by a simple point-and-click configuration, administrators can create custom integrations that perfectly match the users' requirements and are flexible enough to change and evolve alongside the business.
Documents can be retrieved from the OnBase repository directly from within the enterprise application. Once retrieved, documents can be reviewed, cross-referenced, annotated and managed utilizing all available OnBase functions. In addition to these document management functions, Application Enabler can deliver Workflow execution functionality to the line-of-business application. Data within an application can be passed to an OnBase workflow for evaluation, processing and routing. This data can be configured to trigger or participate within a business process.
The Application Enabler can use the documents and metadata 'mapped' to the user's screens for importing documents into the OnBase system. For example, Application Enabler can generate indexing bar codes sheets with data from the User's application. This functionality not only enables businesses to incorporate paper-based documents into their content management system, but to also link those documents directly with data resident in the application.
Application
A County Clerk of Courts uses Application Enabler to integrate their Case Management software with OnBase. Because OnBase integrates tightly with the Case Management application, which is a custom-developed, Oracle-based application, it simply captures the keyword values used to index the documents from their application. As a result, the only additional step for the county to implement OnBase is that the file clerks now scan the documents.
The scanning labor is more than offset by the other advantages of using Application Enabler. Because of the integration, documents are linked to the Case Management application as well. This allows judges, the district attorney, the state court solicitor, the sheriff's office, the court administration office and magistrate court to simply click on a field in CJIS to retrieve all relevant case files immediately. This impacts about 200 to 300 people working inside and outside of the courthouse.
Business Process Management
The Application Enabler can 'Process Enable" software applications. The Application Enabler can be configured to create a virtual e-form from the data that the user is working with. The e-form is then passed to the related business process in OnBase. The Workflow can then 'evaluate' the contents of the line-of-business application screen the user is on in real-time. The workflow could notify a manager that an invoice has been entered into the line-of-business application that needs immediate attention for example.
Front Office Scanning
The Application Enabler can be configured to store information that was entered into the line-of-business application for later association with a scanned image. This eliminates the double keying of information. With this functionality, users only type in information once and let Front Office Scanning and the Application Enabler do the indexing.
Disconnected Scanning
The Application Enabler can be used to completely fill in the Disconnected Scanning indexing dialog. This is the same functionality that is available in the thick client with the added benefit of indexing in a disconnected mode.
Web Scanning / Indexing
The Application Enabler can pass all indexing information from any line-of-business application into the indexing panel of the Web Client. This allows users to index documents from remote sites.

Virtual Print Driver
The Application Enabler can fill in the Virtual Print Driver's import dialog when the Print Driver is used in 'distributed indexing mode.' While users are in their line-of-business application, they can select the Hyland Printer to print to. The print driver will create a multi-page TIFF image of what the user wants to print and pop-up the OnBase print dialog. The Application Enabler will completely fill in the indexing information so the user has to do is press Import.
Application Enabler and E-Forms
The Application Enabler can be configured to create E-Forms from information on a line-of-business application. E-forms can be used in workflows or simply as a paperless means of storing and tracking information and activities going on in the user's line-of-business application.
EDM Services
The Application Enabler can be configured to fully index documents that have been imported into OnBase via EDM Services. Entire directories can be imported into OnBase using this functionality.
Host Application Enabler
The Application Enabler can be used to integrate any application without the OnBase Client present. The Host Enabler can 'host' certain text-based applications inside of the OnBase Client. If Users are in OnBase most of the day and their other line-of-business application is a supported text-based emulation package, then they can access can access that application while still in OnBase. They can use the Application Enabler to integrate line-of-business applications that can not be hosted inside of OnBase, like Windows- or HTML based applications.
