About OSAM

In 1912 Arizona became a state and Remington Rand Corporation opened a branch office in Phoenix, Arizona’s capital, to meet the needs of the new state’s businesses and government offices. OSAM was not yet a twinkle in the eye of its parent, Remington Rand, but our roots in the office systems and machines business were established at that time and became the springboard for embracing and managing the constant flow of new document management technology.

In 1975 Remington Rand chose channel distribution over direct sales in Arizona, created its first dealership in the United States, Office Systems And Machines (OSAM) of Arizona, Inc. and staffed the new corporation with a majority of its existing employees, one of whom, Ron Thompson, Sr., had been employed by Remington Rand since 1963. Our baby was born.

Ron Thompson, Sr., an Arizonan since childhood, chose the position of Service Manager at the new OSAM dealership over a prestigious position at Remington Rand headquarters in Blue Bell, PA. On January 1st, 1981, he purchased OSAM and to date remains principal owner and CFO. Ron is well recognized nationally as a pioneer in the document management industry and a leader in cutting edge technology. He is a charter member of the Independent Information Management Dealers Association (IIMDA) and the International Systems Dealers Association (ISDA) and a long-standing member of AIIM, the ECM Association, and ARMA International.

Ron Thompson, Jr., following in his father’s footsteps, is dedicated to OSAM’s continued success. After eight years with OSAM, beginning in 1996, during which he concentrated on the sales and implementation of electronic document management solutions as well as education in the administration of OSAM, Ron Jr. accepted the title and responsibilities of President/CEO in June 2004. An inspired visionary, Ron Jr. by then was already well known and called upon in the industry for his expert knowledge of content management software as well as his expertise in film-based products and systems.

To add further credibility, all OSAM sales and support personnel are required to pass the CompTIA CDIA+ certification program, the only certification that acknowledges the expertise of a professional in the field of Electronic Document Management. Our Certified Document Imaging Architechs are recognized as having demonstrated proficiency in the following job skills and knowledge domains:

  • Plan for the Implementation

In addition, all technical and support staff members are trained and certified by our hardware and software partners in the products and systems OSAM maintains.

As technology evolved, the meaning of OSAM has undergone a few facelifts: From Office Systems And Machines to Optical Systems And Micrographics with the advent of the optical disc and electronic imaging, Optical Systems And MicroImaging when micrographics went from analog to digital, Office Systems And MicroImaging as the optical disc was replaced by CD-ROM, and now OSAM Document Solutions, Inc., a well-recognized, no longer defined acronym, with a timeless descriptor.

Our vision, however, has remained constant—cost effective, quality content management solutions for our customers with a comprehensive approach to our service and support.
